On April 2-4, Elshad Aliyev, the Executive Director of the Fund for Support to Azerbaijani Diaspora, visited Georgia with the delegation of the State Committee on Diaspora Affairs.
During the visit, the Executive Director of the Fund took part in official meetings in Tbilisi with Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhadze, State Minister for Peace and Civilization Ketevan Tsixelashvili and the Vice Speaker of Georgian Parliament. Activities of the Azerbaijani community in Georgia and the integration of community members into the Georgian society have been discussed at the meeting. A meeting was held with Akhiska Turks studying at Georgian universities, as well as the home museum of the great Azerbaijani playwright Jalil Mammadguluzade has been visited.
On April 3, the delegation visited Dmanisi. There was held a meeting with local community representatives at Dmanisi Education Center. Mayor of Dmanisi Giorgi Tatuashvili, deputy governor of Kvemo Kartli Kaxa Koberidze, deputy of Georgian parliament Kaxaber Okriashvili, deputy mayor of Dmanisi, Arif Suleymanov, department chief of State Ministry for Peace and Civic Integration Zviad Zviadadze, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Tamar Tevdoradze, the ambassador Dursun Hasanov, the head of SOCAR’s Georgia office Mahir Mammadov and other officials took part in the meeting.
On April 4, the delegation visited the Lagodekhi region. Representatives of Lagodekhi municipality familiarized with the Public Center operating in Gabal village. During the meeting, the residents of Gabal talked about their problems and concerns. Discussions were held on the solution of those problems and suggestions were made.
