On May 25, the Azerbaijan State Academic Philharmonic Hall named after Muslim Magomayev hosted a concert titled “The motherland is not far” with the participation of well-known Azerbaijani musicians.
The concert organized by the Fund for Support to Azerbaijani Diaspora is dedicated to the 96th anniversary of the birth of national leader Heydar Aliyev and May 28 - the Republic Day.
Opening the event, First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Diaspora Affairs, Valeh Hajiyev spoke about the care and attention of the state towards art and culture players of the country. He expressed his gratitude to the Azerbaijanis living outside the country for introducing Azerbaijani music to the world. The event was followed by a concert program. Honored artist, pianist Islam Manafov, composer, pianist, conductor, international contest winner Abuzar Manafzade, Honored Artist of Azerbaijan, pianist Turan Manafzade, Mehman Khalgzade, Nicat Masimov and Karen Danger-Manafzade participated in the evening of classical music.
At the concert soundtracks of compositions by Sergey Rahmaninov, Said Rustamov, Rauf Hajiyev and Abuzar Manafzade were performed. At the end of the event, the composition “Khojaly” by Abuzar Manafzade devoted to the Khojaly genocide was played and the memory of the victims of the tragedy was commemorated with a moment of silence.
