  • Azerbaijan was represented at the International Cartography Conference for the first time.

The International Cartography Association, organized every two years, hosts the International Cartography Conference on July 15-20, 2019 in Tokyo, Japan.

With the financial support of the Fund for Support to Azerbaijani Diaspora, Azerbaijan was represented at the Conference for the first time by Nargiz Safaraliyeva, who obtained her PhD degree in Geography at the University of Zurich, Switzerland.

An article titled "Teaching Basic Map Concepts in Azerbaijan, Hungary and the United Arab Emirates" was successfully presented at the 29th International Cartography Conference, which brings together experts from 89 countries and 34 organizations. The article is written in collaboration and research of José Jesús REYES NUNEZ, Deputy Chairman of the Association's Cartography and Children Commission, Naeema Al Hosani, Associate Professor of Cartography at the United Arab Emirates University, and Nargiz Safaralieva, PhD student at the University of Zurich, Switzerland. The speech of our representative Nargiz Safaralieva's took place on July 16 at the Mars Hall of the National Museum of Science and Innovation of Japan - Miraikan.
