  • A conference on “the role of Germans in the multicultural life of Baku” was held at Humbolt University in Germany.

A conference titled “The Role of Germans in the Multicultural Life of Baku” was held at Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany, with the financial support of the Fund for Support to Azerbaijani Diaspora and organizational support of the “Center for Unity, Integration and Business Development” of German Azerbaijanis and participation of German historicians.

The conference was attended by German historians and professors Döke Wolfgang, Geike Rainer, Tamara Ternova, Konrad Gunther and university dean, Professor Aux Eva-Maria, Azerbaijani researcher Fuad Akhundov, chairman of the Organizing Center, Member of the Coordination Council of the Azerbaijanis of Germany Activists Farid Tagiyev, Dr. Adil Bayramov, Diaspora representatives, and students.

Speaking at the event, A. Eva-Maria said that German families first settled in Helenendorf and Annenfeld (now Ganja, Shamkir and Gazakh) and talked about the cultural development of Germans in Azerbaijan, which has historically tolerant and cultural diversity. In particular, she spoke of German cultural monuments, which are still preserved in Baku: "We have followed every nuance during our long search from the Caucasus to the province of Kars. Although we have found historical linkages of Germans and Georgians along with Azerbaijanis in this region, we have not found any traces of armenians. There are no cultural traces associated with Armenians in this region at all. ”

The researcher Fuad Akhundov gave an extensive lecture on the German footprint in historic buildings and other projects in Baku. The conference continued discussions of the participants.
